return to gnal          GNAL artist of the month

Jill Hassall Rees

Jill is a graduate of Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, with a BFA in Illustration.  She has worked as a freelance graphic and packaging designer for Container Corporation of America, Bell Telephone, AT&T, PECO, SK Advertising and most recently Lenox Corporation.

In 2002 Jill was chosen as a participating artist in the Main Line Art Center’s “Art Unleashed”, and outdoor public exhibition of 50 larger than life fiberglass dogs.  That experience lead to invitations to participate in Harrisburg, PA’s “Cow Parade” and the “Giant Watering Can” project and “Wind Through the Trees” at the Jenkins Arboretum.

Jill says, "I guess you could say I’m that typical mom who finally has time to concentrate on making art once again since my two children have grown up and left the 'nest'.  For the past 4 years I’ve been studying watercolor as a member of Michael Adams’ class at GNAL.  It has been fun to get back into a medium that I studied long ago in college but never had the time to explore thoroughly."
